It is just a few weeks since I told you I had a little dream to open a bookstore and I can’t believe tomorrow is opening day for my pop-up.
I have been busy – so busy! – preparing everything for the big day, so much so that the physical store has taken priority over the website, which I hope will be operational in the next couple of days (just hold on a little longer!).
BUT if you would like to come and visit me tomorrow, or any time before Christmas, this is where I will be popping up:
The Bloom Foundry, 55 St John’s Road, Tunbridge Wells, TN4 9TP
With any luck by the end of today one of these shop window will be full of books.
Remember that the ‘unique selling point’ of The Book Room is the fact that every single book inside has been picked for you by a writer – either myself, or one of the brilliant authors I have called upon to put together a list of their favourite books from their genre.
These are in the Writers Recommend sections, both online and in the physical store. And in store you will be able to identify the books from the Writers Recommend curations from these gorgeous stickers
And these cards on which I will write just why that particular author wishes to press them so urgently into your hands:
And speaking of online, I’m afraid that with just me doing it all alone, setting up the physical store has had to take priority, but I hope the website will be fully fuctional in the next couple of days (my brother-in-law, Sam, has been busy giving up his time to help make this happen for me).
Those purchasing books in my pop-up store will receive a free cotton tote bag
AND a free bookmark
And if you are in Tunbridge Wells, I am offering FREE delivery in the TN4 postcode because what I need more than anything is a community that wants this bookshop to succeed and stay, and I can only turn this pop-up into a physical store with their help.
BUT if you are not in Tunbridge Wells, you can still support by ordering any book online – I can usually get them delivered direct to you within 48 hours. Until the website is functional, please email me: anna@annawharton.com and I would be so happy (you don’t know HOW happy) to help.
Last night I had a couple of little helpers in who quickly tried to snaffle some stock off my shelf.
But when you visit The Book Room, either online or in the physical store, remember that I will be adding to my range between now and Christmas, all recommendations are welcome, and if there is something in particular you want or need, just ask.
This is a big experiment for me, but I am so happy to have you all along for the ride.
For now, I must crack on with that shop window. Pics to follow.
Thank you to all who have shared enthusiasm for this little project of mine – you have kept me going!
I hope to see you in real life soon at The Book Room!

Well done Anna. Admirable spirit! Look forward to viewing the website.
Good luck for tomorrow!!
