Firstly, so sorry that I didn’t send out a round up of the weekend’s book reviews last night. In my defence (I was actually cleaning my house and running my daughter here and there), the newspapers had very slim pickings because they’re still busy with their round-ups of the year, although I did spy many of the books that are still on my shelves in those round-ups.
Anyway, I’m hoping that you’re so busy too, you will forgive me.
And so we commence my last week of trading my pop-up inside The Bloom Foundry (55 St John’s Road, Tunbridge Wells, TN4 9TP), I’ll send an update out later this week with my own round-up of how it’s all gone and what’s next, but you will find me open every day this week 10-5.
But in the meantime, I thought you might enjoy hearing from another one of the authors who have put together a curation for The Book Room.
This week, it’s Marianne Levy, who has put together her favourite books on motherhood. These include Marianne’s own brilliant Don’t Forget to Scream, which has been lauded by critics and very popular in store – the jacket itself speaks to any mother!
In the video below you will hear me talk to Marianne about her own book as well as just why she loves the books she has picked.
These are:
• A Life’s Work by Rachel Cusk
• The Rules Do Not Apply by Ariel Levy
• Making Babies by Anne Enright
They all sound absolutely fascinating to me, and if you would like to buy the entire curation as a Christmas present for some lucky mum, you can do so here. If you are in or near Tunbridge Wells and would like me to put one together for you as a hamper, please use this form to contact me, as I took the plunge and ordered more gold boxes in the hope of last minute panic purchases (mostly because that’s how I approach my own Christmas shopping, to be fair).
As far as I know, home deliveries are still getting through – if you’re quick! Actually, you have more chance of orders from the website arriving at your home than I have of it arriving at the shop – UPS has been picking up the slack for Royal Mail. And as always, I would be so grateful for any website orders.
But back to Marianne, here is our interview, enjoy with a festive glass of Baileys, and let me know what you think in the comments.
